Counselling

Counseling falls under the umbrella term talking therapy that helps people to overcome many challenges they are facing. Unlike animals, human beings have a complex emotional system. Sometimes it is difficult to find a balance. Counselling helps you to find that balance or stability between your thoughts and emotions. A counsellor is not somebody who sits down with you and tells you what to do. Instead, they'll encourage you to talk about what's troubling you so that you can figure out what's causing it and what your unique emotional states are. The counsellor may then work with you to get an insight of the problem which will eventually bring a change. The counselling is fruitful when the therapist acts as a supporting figure without being judgmental and helps you to find a different perspective. Counselling is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and each session is usually personalised to the individual. There are a range of ways through which counselling is done, including iIndividual face to face counselling, group counselling, and online counselling.

Purpose of counselling

Anyone who wants to learn more about how they think or feel, as well as anyone who has a problem or issue they want to solve, might benefit from counselling. People may consult a counsellor because they are unable to discuss personal difficulties with their loved ones, friends, or family, or they may just prefer to speak with a professional who can provide an impartial perspective. It deals with a wide range of problems such as mental health, addiction, relationship problems, and trauma. While counsellors may not be able to provide you with specific advice or a to-do list to help you feel better, they can assist you in discovering your own insight and understanding of your difficulties, as well as providing the tools to help you resolve them on your own.
Counselling can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and how you think, which will lead to a better comprehension of your difficulties. The more information you have, the easier it will be to navigate your way through whatever challenges you confront, allowing you to emerge on the other side feeling more optimistic. Counselling can also assist you in better understanding the perspectives of others, that can provide a better way to interpret words or actions.

Psychotherapy

Life is never an easy road to cross. Though we are strong as individuals, or we get through breakdowns or major challenges, life can be difficult at times. Sometimes we feel ‘I could use some help’. That is where the importance of psychotherapy is. Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, refers to the process of using linguistic and psychological procedures to treat psychological distresses and emotional difficulties. A trained psychotherapist assists you in addressing specific or general issues such as a mental illness or a source of life stress or a trauma during this procedure. Psychotherapy helps with problems such as coping with daily life, the effects of trauma, or a loss such as the death of a loved one, and specific psychological disorders such as depression or anxiety. There are various types of psychotherapy, and some of them may be more effective than others for specific problems or situations.

Psychotherapy happens in a confidential place where you share your parts of life with your therapist. A therapy cannot be called successful unless the client builds a relationship with the therapist. A variety of tactics and strategies are used depending on the therapist's approach. Almost all methods of psychotherapy entail establishing a therapeutic connection, talking and establishing a dialogue, and working to change problematic thoughts or behaviours. The assessment and treatment are determined based on the factors that you share during the conversation such as personal history, relationships, emotions, and thought processes.

Different Types of Psychotherapy

Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals employ a variety of therapeutic approaches. The sort of therapy chosen is determined by the patient's problem and circumstances, as well as his or her preferences. To best address the requirements of the person receiving treatment, therapists may combine features from various techniques.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves talking. This implies it's founded on the idea that talking about issues can help people learn and acquire the abilities they'll need to deal with them. It's a way of thinking that considers all facets of a person's existence. It aims to assist people in comprehending the oftentimes hidden or unconscious motivations that underpin troubling feelings and behaviours. Having this knowledge can help people feel better, relieve symptoms, and make better decisions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on understanding and identifying the behavioural patterns or functional patterns that are harmful or unproductive to the client and help them to replace it with more healthy behavioural patterns and thought processes. It helps you to understand the present problems and find the possible solutions. CBT is said to be effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and traumatic disorders.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT)

Instead of focusing on a person's past experiences, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) focuses on their current and future situations and aspirations. The symptoms or other issues that brought a person to therapy are often not addressed in this goal-oriented therapy. Our experts, on the other hand, encourage persons in treatment to create a goal for the future and provide support as they assess the skills, resources, and talents required to achieve that goal. In other words, SFBT primarily focuses to help people currently going through some difficulties to find immediate solutions and get along with situations in daily lives.

Psycho-Analysis

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is another treatment based on talking about things whatever is on your mind. This helps you in recognising hidden meanings or patterns in what you do or say that may be contributing to your current problems. Sometimes people get stuck in the past and want to talk to someone about it. We provide a safe, private and confidential space in which you can talk about yourself and your problems in order to better comprehend the connections and patterns that emerge from your experiences in the past. Understanding these relationships and patterns allows therapists to figure out what to drop and what to pick, to bring positive changes, and to help you come to terms with that you cannot get away from.
